Karbon Homes begins delivery of our repair services

Today (1 April), Karbon begins delivering day-to-day repairs services, and work on empty homes, on our behalf.

When 54North Homes was formed in 2022 and joined Karbon Group, we committed to bringing these services in-house, rather than using contractors.

The decision to do so aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality, reliable and local services, while improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience.

Speaking about the news, Mark Pearson, Managing Director of 54North Homes, said: “We’re delighted that Karbon is now delivering our repairs service. This change enables us to deliver a more responsive, reliable and high-quality service for our customers, while also continuing to work with trusted contractors for specialist services and planned maintenance.”

In the lead up to 1 April, Karbon recruited a team of Yorkshire-based tradespeople.

Ian Johnson, Executive Director of Customer Services at Karbon Homes added: “We’re excited to be delivering this service in partnership with 54North Homes. We are delighted to have recruited some brilliant new colleagues from across Yorkshire, giving them the opportunity to work within their local communities and further afield. We look forward to providing these services and making a real difference for customers.”

Customers can continue to report repairs in the usual way, which includes via the My 54North Homes customer portal on our website, via email or over the phone. You can find all the details here: Contact Us - 54North Homes.

You can also find lots of information about our repairs, including timescales, on our website and in our repairs handbook, here: Repairs and maintenance - 54North Homes.

As a reminder, all of our colleagues and contractors carry ID. When inviting them into your home, even if you have a pre-arranged appointment, please ask to see their identification and if in doubt, please call us.

Heating services, including annual safety checks, will be carried out by Sureserve Compliance. You may already be familiar with Sureserve Compliance as the company was formerly known as Sure Maintenance and has worked with 54North Homes in the York area.

Contractors GTD, which has also worked with us in recent years in the Leeds area, will undertake electrical services and planned maintenance. Planned maintenance is large-scale repair and improvements made to a number of homes in a particular estate, village or area. For example, this could include the fitting of new windows or rewiring.

From time to time, contractors may also help with other repairs if we see any spikes in demand.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
