Dan and friends raise over £4K for charity

54North Homes’ Asset Sustainability Manager, Dan Pash and five friends cycled 90KM last weekend to raise money and awareness of prostate cancer.

The group took part in the Tour de 4 event in Glasgow on Sunday, an initiative launched by Sir Chris Hoy following his own diagnosis with Stage 4 cancer.

Collectively, they have raised over £4,000 with donations still coming in.

They cycled the 56.2 mile route, which included 3,269ft of elevation and Dan said: “The support from residents along the route was incredible – cheering us on every step of the way.

“It was a day filled with positivity, but also reflection. Seeing so many people come together made me realise just how many lives have been touched by the diseases we’re fighting. The ripple effect is vast, and this event reminded me how powerful collective action can be.”

The charity is close to one of Dan’s friends and fellow cyclist who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 2022. He started chemotherapy treatment in January 2023 and thankfully, managed to catch it in time without relying on surgery and the treatment helped to reduce the cancer from spreading.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with about 1 in 8 men being diagnosed in their lifetime.
