Keeping Elmetes moving with free bike repairs

Residents at our Elmetes estate in Roundhay, Leeds, recently enjoyed a free bike repair drop‑in event, which we hosted in partnership with Leeds Bike Mill.

Despite the threat of rain, the event saw a steady turnout throughout the afternoon, with around a dozen bikes repaired and safety‑checked by Leeds Bike Mill’s experienced mechanics.

Families from the local area brought along bikes of all ages and sizes. Some required repairs to punctures or brakes, while others simply needed a general check‑over. The mechanics worked hard to get bikes road‑ready again, and the event was met with lots of positive feedback from residents.

Leeds Bike Mill is a Leeds‑based worker co‑operative offering bicycle repairs, maintenance and advice to help people keep their bikes in good condition. They are currently relocating from Mabgate to Meanwood Road, where they will soon be welcoming customers again. More information is available at leedsbikemill.org.

The drop‑in was organised by our Housing team following customer suggestions. Housing colleagues were on hand to also provide free refreshments, snacks and housing advice.
