Can you afford to rent a home?

All new and prospective customers of 54North Homes are asked to complete our pre-tenancy affordability check.

You will need to know the exact details of your income, such as your current benefit or tax credit payments and/or your monthly/annual income before and after tax. You can find this information on a DWP/HMRC benefit letter or your P60 or pay slip.

During this check, our Income Officers will be looking at moving costs, existing financial commitments and your ability to pay the rent which will be due on or before your regular rent due date.

We want to ensure that you can enjoy living in your new home without increasing your financial burden and will support you to do this. 

Your Income Officer will know about other support available to you during your move, such as help with furniture and white goods rental.
